Ronan The Baby Seal

Hello, my name is Halaya. I am the forth child of the Bell Tribe, and I am going to tell you a GREAT story!! !How I got Ronan!! (Also know as Baby Boy) Are you ready?

About two months ago, my mom and I went to the store. At our last stop, I asked my Mom if we could go to the animal shelter? She said that we could..

All that day, I was praying that there be a Russian Blue at the shelter. My mom and I believed YaH and trusted Him for an answer.
When we got there, we went into the cats area, and asked the lady that works there, if they had any Russian Blues?

The animal staff said ,that they have one, but they couldn’t specify the breed. My mom and I didn’t understand that, yet we trusted YaH if there was a Russia Blue, Abba would have my cat there. I walked into the room, and when I saw him, I fell in love.
HE WAS SOOO CUTE! I asked my Mom if I could get him, she said that she had to ask my Dad first.

My Mom called my Dad and he said I could get him!!!!

And that’s the story….

I prayed and got what I asked for!!! This has been a long long time of waiting. I saved all my money from the time I was five and paid for Ronan all on my own So he truly is all MINE!

I even work for my our family business and my moms Plexus business with computer graphics and do extra chores at home to pay for feed, kitty litter or whatever else Ronan might need, I am his owner and he is my responsiblility.

Three people I want to thank~
~My Mom and Dad

Why did I have to get a Russian Blue??? My Mom is allergic to cats. Russian Blues are hypoallergic and are truly a beautiful breed

 Rebekah Garvin shares……
I am in love with my new bell tent by Canvas Camp! As I am becoming more and more proactive in guarding my family’s health I began to suspect that I need to watch the ingredients of the products we use and not just what we eat. We haven’t had a tent for a long time because I decided I just couldn’t purchase a tent that has a label on it that says something like, “This product contains one or more chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.”* Duh! Warned. We searched everywhere… REI and Cabella’s and almost every tent had this warning on the box. We left our in-person searching empty-handed. I don’t want that kind of material around my family knowingly –– I’d rather sleep outside by the campfire with the bears! But finally, before I went to the fabric store to buy my own fabric to make a shelter –– I again searched online for a tent to go care camping with this past summer. And I finally discovered Canvas Camp Bell Tent! Just plain cotton canvas without fire retardant. I was impressed with the company and their attention to quality and detail. They had a lot on their site about the concern many of us have about the chemicals companies use to make tents. They also impressed me with their quick shipping! I ordered on Sunday night. They had it to me by Thursday at no extra cost for our camping trip that started on Friday. Not only do I feel safe camping in the material, but I LOVE the design. HEAVY zippers! Insanely easy to set up! It is NOTHING like the complicated set ups we used to have. My husband is impressed with the quality and that says a lot –– he’s super picky. This tent reminds me of the 4 years my family and lived in a canvas (non treated) tipi. There is so much room in this tent. I’m really very happy with it and hope to use it for many many years! We’ve already used it 4 times this summer! The ones at WallMart are knock offs! Gotta pay money to get the real deal …. and this is the real deal. Yes, it’s heavy, but that’s to be expected! Means quality! Thanks, Canvas Camp!

*I found so many studies on flame retardant material. One was from……”It was an eye-opening study, released in 2016, that showed that not only are the chemicals present on the hands of people who set up tents, people sleeping inside them were also breathing in the flame retardant chemicals. Further, the chemicals’ composition and amount used varied, suggesting a haphazard use throughout the industry. According to the study, “application rates may not be standardized; application methods may not be adequately controlled, or other, novel [flame retardants] that were not assessed in this study are also being applied to meet the tent flammability standard requirements….These chemicals aren’t good for anybody, not the people making the tents and not for the end user either.”

Where you blessed and educated with her story!?
I, sure was…

My Story

My Plexus Story……..

Time to get real, as I share my story of how this little Pink drink 🍷 was brought into my life.
It all started back in July 2015 when I was given a gift of a sign up and 3 month supply of Plexus TriPlex by a dear couple I have known for over 10 years, Erin Harrison Mark Harrison These two are my life source and team captains who POUR into my life and so many others!
I will NEVER forget that moment and I am forever grateful!!

I have struggled with list of health issues that I think stem back in utero as an infant, Between auto immune, hormone thyroid balances, adrenals depletion, viruses, infections (EBV Chronic Fatigue) continual MOLD exposure and digestive issues, a host of other symptoms along with menopause, my body gets hit rather quickly and recovery takes time .Much of my health changed in May 2012 when our 5th baby boy passed away and gently carried off to sleep in the Arms of My Creator.

The trauma and stress of his death along with grieving affected me emotionally and physically. My parenting skills where completely where non existent as I struggled to make ti through each day. I knew my body need optimal nutrition at a cellular rate so I could heal my immune system. Who would of thought, my GUT was so compromised?! I also know past symptoms were inflamed again, causing my body to hit menopause at an early age. I needed a change….and I needed it soon!

I have been on a multitude of products throughout my health journey, visited many Natural and Holistic MD and honestly I can say, it has helped me to recover, yet just for a season. And here is why, I never had enough.
I could never continue a program due to not having income tor it. I would go strong with taking all recommended and sticking to a program, and the following month it ended due to cost. The cost of staying healthy at times was keeping me at a state of being ill with constant symptoms reoccurring rather too quickly. Something has to change and change soon.

Enter Plexus.,,
Improvement begins.,,
RESTORATION is on its way…..
Seeing light at the end of the tunnel, was a joy to see and feel!

When the sign up with TriPlex was given to me as a gift, I was floored, and I pushed it away, knowing that I couldn’t possibly continue Plexus after their gracious gift would soon come to and end. Another dilemma hit with needing funds to cover cost. With my husbands consent, I gave it MY all and worked the business side of this amazing company!

I share the product with everyone I came in contact with (95% of my business, is done on Facebook and other social media). I gave most, if not all, of my Slim packets away, to start my team. I shared my up line story, since I didn’t have one of my own. I reached a goal and I went SILVER the first month! I was on to something BIG!

It was hard, consistent work, and I knew the pay off would be a domino affect for not just my health but for our finances. To have the freedom knowing I could continue taking these products and not have to worry about if and when the funds would be available or not, was a joyful feeling inside. The pressure was off and I could now have income for more than just products! I got some BIG goals here!

My products where paid off in the FIRST month and have been consistently for 3 years and then some. I truly enjoy working from home and keeping the plates I serve spinning well. Sometime one falls to the ground and breaks. I choose to reach down, grab a new plate and watch it spin in rhythm with the others It is about MINDSET! Getting back up when we fall! Choosing LIFE! Seeing the potential through Our Creators eyes

I was determined to share about the products even without seeing results. Really?? Come on now?? How can you share about a product without having results yourself?? You can!
For a long time, I used the testimonies of others to share the products with, until I had one of my own.
Hence the story you are reading now. I trusted in how The Father placed Plexus in my lap over 3 years ago and I can now see some of the “why’s” he did! So much more to come!

I have chose. to take my eyes off of myself and see the beauty of how Plexus has helped so many of my family and friends The people I do life with!
Isn’t that what LIFE is all about? Helping others reach their goals along side of yours?
I am currently a GOLD Ambassador and choosing to climb the rank ladder as it comes and have an amazing team. Filled with some beautiful people who love YHWH and want to make a difference in the lives of many, including their own!

What a tool Plexus has been to share health and financial freedoms to many! I give ALL esteem to My Heavenly Father who brought this little Pink drink in my life.

My health is soaring and my immune system is getting stronger each day. I am no where near physically and emotionally where I was 7 years ago.
This is a current photo for 2019 I still have way to go to get to my health goals and repair the breech. Yet I am confident that these products along with prayer and and amazing body my Creator made I will reach my health destiny one Pink slim and more at a time
Don’t get discouraged or quit!
I didn’t!
Stick with it and let your body heal from within.
It will!
Mine is 🙂
PS This homesteading mama has much work to do! I am beyond excited seeing the vision come to pass very soon!
PSS Our mindset is such a BIG factor in health and when one feels good from inside it can make a HUGE shift on how we think!
I even named my online site, what I need to hear for myself

Raw Grainless Granola-GUEST POST

Enjoy my guest post written by my dear friend Erin Harrison of Keeper of the Homestead

Raw Grainless Granola

This is my favorite healthy cereal recipe ever!  I have been making this for our breakfasts for years now and we never get tired of it.  The nutrient value of this raw grainless granola is far above most other breakfast options.  Some people are sensitive to grains or they are trying to shed some unwanted pounds.  This cereal is perfect for the gluten free crowd, the health nut, or the weight watcher.

When I have a bowl of this, I feel full.  I feel energized.  It is an easy breakfast because you do not have to cook it and it can literally be tossed together in a matter of a few minutes.  My kids love it.

Raw Grainless Granola:

1/2 c. virgin coconut oil
2 c. ground flax seed
2 c. shredded coconut
2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raw honey or maple syrup
1 c. dried fruit (cranberries, bilberries, or raisins)
2 T. cinnamon
1 t. vanilla
dash of salt

Melt oil.  Add all ingredients together and stir.
Serve raw with milk.
(raw cow milk, raw goat milk, coconut or almond milk)

Wow, virgin coconut oil is amazing!!  It lowers cholesterol, strengthens the immune system, fights candida yeast, it is anti-viral and anti-microbial, it helps people lose weight which is an even better plus, helps fight heart disease, good for diabetics, helps with brain function, and gives you energy to boot!!!

Warm the virgin coconut oil very slightly.  Do not get the oil too hot, just enough to melt it.

Grind your flax fresh.  Flax can get rancid if it is sitting out, so it is always best to grind fresh.  I use my vitamix blender to do a larger batch, but most people can get by with a little coffee bean grinder.  That works just fine.

Add the flax to the oil and stir together.  Flax is a good fiber and it is also a great vegetable form of Omega 3.  Omega 3 is good in supporting metabolism and brain function.  It is an essential fatty acid that our bodies need so desperately.  Flax also contain lignans which reduce the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.  Yeah for that!

Add raw honey for the most raw enzyme benefits.  Raw honey has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties.  It promotes healthy digestion, it is a powerful antioxidant, and it also strengthens the immune system.  Why not use honey?!!!  It is liquid gold.

Add the shredded coconut-I use unsweetened shredded coconut.

Next, add your dried fruit.  I usually use cranberries or raisins, but today I tried bilberry fruit.  It is a bit more expensive, but it has so many wonderful anti aging properties, I was excited to reap those benefits!  Everyone needs a little help in that area, right?  Bilberry fruit has been used for centuries to help support good eye function.  It is loaded with antioxidants and also helps give energy.

Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant that also helps stabilize blood sugars.  It is an amazing herb that needs to be added to this recipe.  The flavor it brings is also very tasty.

Adding nuts adds a wonderful texture to the granola.  I usually use walnuts, almonds, and pecans.  They all contain wonderful enzymes and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids as well.  The nuts help lower cholesterol, give a good source of vitamin E and are a good fat that helps with losing weight.  To even add more benefits, soak and dry them first.  That breaks down the phytic acid that is an enzyme inhibitor.

Vanilla contains chemicals called vanilloids that activate receptors in a similar way to cayenne pepper, which is reduces inflammation and improves brain functioning.  Vanilla has been known to calm stomach pains, reduce hunger, and help in digestion.  Plus, vanilla tastes good.  I have an article on how to make your own vanilla here.

Just a dash of salt will bring out the amazing flavors.  I like to use celtic sea salt or himalayan salt because I know I am getting so many minerals that way.

Stir all ingredients together.

Add some milk and enjoy!  For those of you that can not have diary, try using coconut milk or almond milk.

Shabbat Day Hike

With the weather changing here in N Idaho, the snow has melted and Spring has sprung.  Means A LOT to the Idahoans up here.

First bucket list to do is, GARDENING!  Get them seedlings and seeds out on the land and wait for harvest. We have been doing much of that here .

Yet this blog post is not about gardening, maybe a photo or two, check out our You Tube channel for more on our gardening adventures.  I like to share with you our recent hike we had as a  large family gathering for Sabbath

Many of us are scattered aboard and times like these sure make up for it.  I LOVE our extended family, who many here have been part of our journey to N Idaho  Abba knows His people need to gather and be in community  I know it makes His heart smile as His children spend quality time together on Sabbath.  And, why not a better get-together than on a HIKE !  His creation is vibrant in these settings and the atmosphere shouts His name

Our fellowship as a body was rich with laughter, sharing life, scripture, a knee scrap or two and some wild adventures The Creator brought beauty and a sense of His creation as we made our way on a unknown path

The day went by slow and quick. If that makes any sense. We all got our workout in and our hearts where exercised with a dose of His Word.   More times like these are needed to refuel for the coming week ahead   Till then. enjoy these photos as much as I did, by experiencing them first hand!

Blessings and Shalom

Pesach Passover 2019

It is that time of year again as we celebrate Feast of Unleavened Bread as in Leviticus 23 6-8 in the Torah.

This year was simple. Just our Tribe (my new word for family) and I have to say, I was truly enjoying it being just us 7.

A small meal we prepared, cooked a lamb, arugula was our bitter herb, organic wine, the children has organic grape juice, and the unleavened bread.  Yes I ate a small bite of the lamb!

Obedience is better than sacrifice

Simple, just simple

I did a You Tube VIdeo on making Unleavened Bread for our Tribe. I hope you can visit our channel . I’ll post the video below also

Going Forward

And when YHWH  your Elohim brings you into the land He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that He would give you—a land with great and splendid cities that you did not build, with houses full of every good thing with which you did not fill them, with wells that you did not dig, and with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you eat and are satisfied, be careful not to forget YHWH  who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. Duet. 6:10-12

This is the scripture given to my back in the High Desert about our new adventure to N Idaho. Little did I know, this is a passage that is still to come to fruition as we faithfully wait what is ahead of us  Life’s journey’s don’t need to be full of disappointments that steal our joy.  It is a choice of ours to allow it to make us into better humans and closer to the heart of The Father. I am desiring to arrive to my destiny, even thru the hiccups of life.

As I continue……

Its been a while since my last blog post over a year ago. Much has been going on with my Tribe and TONS of exciting news to share. I hope you will enjoy this read as I catch you all up to speed.

Here we go!!!

After 15 years of owing a home in the High Desert of Southern California and 9 months of solo parenting, (my husband had a job out of state), we packed what we had, sold most of our belongings, (including our goats and chickens, which we miss dearly) and made the journey to Northern Idaho.  It has been a dream of ours to begin a life of homesteading, owning land and self-sufficiency. We learned much while we resided in the High Desert  about gardening, raising animals, preparing for the days ahead, community, Co-Op and so much more and I was confident that we could apply all those experiences to our new life. Well, that all changed in a split second when we landed foot in Idaho

After 9 months of being on my own with our 5 children, we had encountered some of life’s “hiccups” along the way.  As our caravan landed in Boise, (including our livestock dog, Serun and our bunny Jicama) to fuel up gas for our vehicles,  our realtor called my husband saying the buyer had just pulled out….WHAT??!!!  We were in Idaho!! We where beside ourselves and immediately got on our knees asking The Creator for HELP!!! We trusted what was left of our frayed instincts, and decided to continue heading North.  Beyond exhausted and now with the emotional side of “Where do we go?, I took a few deep breathes and prayed. I was numb to all my surroundings, yet I knew My Father has a plan and a glorious one in the works. We were all so very tired with all the traveling that my physical body just couldn’t go any further.  I was having physical symptoms but I trusted in my husbands reassurance that all would be well. We knew we couldn’t go back to CA. Driving forward was our only option.

We finally got to our destination and stayed at a home in exchange for replacing some trim that needed to be stained and nailed around the doors and floorboards in the house. It was a great trade for our family in need. Knowing we were able to stay for 2 months, gave us a little comfort. At least it seemed.

When disappointed sets in, one has to fight to make sure it doesn’t steal your joy. There have been many times in this journey that my joy seemed to be stolen from me with one disappointed after another. Outside of not getting into a permanent homestead (still to this day), and our house going back and forth on the market – one mountain after another, it seemed. Our livestock dog, Serun, had to be spayed in an emergency surgery that almost cost her her life.

When Serun was given to us by a friend, our part was to work with the Gampr community in breeding her. We had it all set up back in CA to breed her with another male, yet the timing wasn’t right.  When we landed in Idaho, she went into heat and the timing was, well, not the best. We did find a male for her and all seem to go well. The owner of male was confident she was pregnant and we took her back to the house we were staying at.

A week or so later, Serun started to bleed, and didn’t look good. We took her to the vet that day, and the next day to get an ultrasound and more tests. It was confirmed that she was not pregnant and that her uterus was infected and swollen with pus (Pyometra is the medical term.) The vet strongly suggested emergency surgery to remove her uterus and the infection. We said yes. The vet told me later it was a miracle she made it thru. I am so thankful she survived. I have to be honest, though, I was really hoping to see her with pups. She would have had a beautiful litter. A different road traveled for her and I.  Hoping to one day start over again with a new  pup.

It was only to be a “one time temporary dwelling” yet when the house fell thru, we where in need of settling somewhere.

After the house we fixed up, we have moved 5 times in 6 months. That’s A LOT of moving for a family of 7.  There is so much more details I could share with you all, I could probably write a book. We are temporary dwellers as we call it.  Our Creator knew we needed His provisions and  provided homes for us to stay in, one after another.  He has never skipped a beat  Although it sure felt like it especially not knowing where the next place was going to be.  It has been a hard season to be honest. Much of my dreams and ideas are on hold, for now.  Our family needs to just breathe in what is in front of us and allow the joy of life to keep us content.  Learning to be thankful in the midst of change is a life lesson.  Gratefulness is an attribute one can learn to adopt when the rug is pulled from underneath you.  That running warm water is sure a blessing when it has been stripped.

With winter quickly approaching, we knew we had to find a permanent place to live. The days seems to quicken as we looked day in and day out to find a place.  All the homes we stayed at where short term, so each day felt as though I was on the edge of it being the last.  I had to learn to rest and trust in The Creator and no be shaken. It is hard to do that, ya’ll. I knew He would never leave me or forsake me. I made time to pray and I struggled. Yet I trusted; He knew best.

We finally landed, in (hopefully last) rental place this October.

We are happy to finally have our feet on the ground, enjoying first this winter wonderland as a family.  Absolutely beautiful!  This place is still a temporary dwelling, yet it is home for a bit.  Choosing once again to be thankful and grateful our family is safe and sound.

This move sure did rock our boat of all the expectation I had before we set foot, yet I am learning the art of embracing seasons and letting go of expectations not yet arrived. I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. Life has turns and twists, and I know the road can seem long and dreary.  I am thankful I am not alone in my journeys of life  and I have someone who will carry me when I am unable to walk.

Thank you for letting me share here today.  I hope you will continue to be part of our Healing Throughout journey as we now are in Northern Idaho. The community here is sweet and we have be truly blessed and welcomed with open arms.

Mama Shalom

Rainbow Super Food

Many of you have asked what I consume as a raw vegan (I do have some lightly steamed and cooked yams and potatoes)  and my latest concoction of super living foods.

I LOVE my greens!!!  And yet I have found living in the Pacific Northwest, organic produce and  greens are hard to come by and pricey!!!  Not to mention how much I eat just for myself and not including my Tribe of 7.

Enter New Beginnings Co-Op.  That’s for another post coming soon!

For now, here are my contents of Rainbow Super Foods,  I take this daily in my green smoothie or just in some plain pure water.

Hopefully I will have this  available for our Co-Op participants at New Beginnings Co-Op

This recipe is made with love and my personal dosages :)

You can mix and match, add and subtract ingredients to your liking

Have FUN!

EQUAL portions of ( I use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of each of the following super foods, seeds and herbs)

Turmeric Ginger Cayenne Nutritional Yeas Beet Ashwagaandha Diatomaceous earth Green Tea Cinnamon  Zeolite Milk Thistle Chorella Spirulina Maca Chia Pumpkin Hemp Sunflower Seeds Nettle Red Raspberry Peppermint Chamomile

All ingredients are  certified organic and in powder form or added to a coffee grinder to get the powder consistency.

So far, that is all I have added to my mix.  I am hoping to add more to it in time.

Once you have all your powders you can add them one at a time in a glass mason jar and make a cool rainbow effect. Shake well. Add a Tsp to 1 Tbs in your morning smoothie or veggie juice

Stay and be healthy

Making Coconut Milk

I have been so blessed to start a small Co-Op again in our community for organic produce  It has been such life saver for this mama of 5 to order and have it dropped of at my front door. Not to mention the prices!!  Goodness!  The savings have been tremendous for the families including mine!   The variety we have been able to order is vast and bountiful. We are enjoying feeding our families high quality organic produce and food

I am always on the  hunt for organic coconuts. After making my first batch of coconut milk, I wont go back to store bought milk. It just isn’t the same. Making food from scratch is not only healthy for your family but it does save on cost. Especially if you are part of a group Co-Op

Some of the moms of the group have asked me to put together a video explaining how I make it. I am pleased to announce, we did!  It came out pretty cool, and the graphics where done by my eldest daughter. I am impressed and very happy to share this in house video with you.

Preparing for Winter on the Homestead

Shalom and Greetings!
Our family has been zipping around all day, moving as we prepare for the winter ahead. Much work to be done and goals to be set. We started off this morning, thanking Our Creator for His mercy and joy, and the ability to work with our hands. Something we should never take for granted.
Winter is fast approaching and it is getting a bit chilly out side. Here in the high desert, season can come swiftly and there isn’t much time to prepare. So, when the sun is shinning bright out side,we take advantage of it and get out side and get busy. Milking when it is COLD outside is miserable. We knew it was time to update our goat pen to accommodate all the ladies and my shepherdess daughter.
Papa was a gem, and did all this labor for FREE. Well, I made him lunch.🥕 Feeding his hungry tummy was partial payment!  He had energy this morning despite a long night celebrating with friends at Sukkot and zipped thru this task in no time. Drinking his pink was essential in giving his body what he needed to make it thru the morning. And with all  the scraps we had around our property the supplies cost us nearly nothing, which made Papa very happy. 😊
My does are happy, my daughter is thrilled with the winter set up, and hubby is looking fine out there working on our homestead.
A very happy mama indeed!
P.S. and of course, Vagr did exceptionally well with his babies We are very impressed with his sweet personality and his patience with them. But Vagr was unfortunately given back to his owners. Hoping to find a suitable family to be with. He is an exceptional Gampr dog, with fantastic abilities as a live stock guard dog. He will make a great addition to a homestead or farm.
Hope you have an amazing rest of your day
Mama Bell, here bids you Shalom

Co-op Kale Chips

Many of you may know we use to coordinated a co-op/buying club for about 8 years here in the high desert, called Bountiful Harvest. We actually founded it and grew it to over 100 strong. I have to say those where the best years my family had serving our community  in orchestrating this group of some finest families and local farms. I learned so much about our food, where it comes from, how to grow it, that I now have the Homesteading bug!

I recently made kale chips with some of the leftover stock we had with our small group on Tues. Yes, I started back up again.  On a smaller scale, but this is how our co-op got started in the beginning. I do sure enjoy helping families get the best quality organic produce at a fraction of the price. Hard work? In deed it is. But Scripture says, You don’t work you don’t eat! 2 Thessalonians 3:10

Here’s to leftover kale

Enjoy the video below

And catch up on You Tube too!

This is a simple way my family enjoys making Kale Chips. I know there are A  LOT of different kind of recipes out there.  Yet this one seems to work well for us

Hope you enjoy your next batch of raw kale chips

All the best,

Mama Bell

All About Produce

Tuesday on at Zephy’s Homestead are beyond packed with all sorts of projects and scheduled events. With life at the homestead,  being a mama, schooling my children, working on business, I just had to get my hands in another project.  Well, those who know me, know I have a hard time “letting go!” Especially to things that not only benefit our family, but the community as well!

Many of you know that we had a community served co-op, called Bountiful Harvest that lasted, oh, 8 plus years in the High Desert.  It was the best 8 years of my life! of the best. Getting married and having children are on the top of the list.  And of course surrendering to The Creator is tip top of the list!

I have always wanted to keep part of the co-op going by ordering case produce for a few of my close friends that I know would be blessed and appreciate the quality and freshness of organic produce. Mind you, this is not grocery shopping mentality. This is large volumes of produce that can be a bit overwhelming for some, but to those of us who have a high raw diet, or in my case juice fasting, buying bulk is the way to go. Plus the middle man is removed, and it is farm-to-consumer.

With so many ways I choose to feed and offer them healthy organic options, I need multiple sources to get my food! Gardening is the best and purest way, but sometimes having to wait until harvest can make tummies grumble a bit longer than needed. So with our AHO High Desert Box shares and now produce case ordering, my shelves and frig and well stocked and full to over flowing.

Mamas, like me thrive when our children and home are well in abundance. To open up the frig and see and over flowing of bountiful beauty and life, give this mama a good heart feeling inside. I am happy to know I am investing in the health of my children and family homestead for the years to come. I am eternally grateful to The Creator for blessing me a few good friends who such beauty in life giving foods you can see below,. The pictures don’t do justice. Seeing and tasting the real thing, can make any mouth water!

Enjoy the photos below.

This is what came today in our Produce Club delivery. Lovely isn’t it?

Have an amazing joyfully filled day!

See all my AHO peeps this afternoon with a selection of organic produce from above to purchase if you so choose to!

Growing Things

I truly enjoy Spring time on our homestead. The trees are blooming, babies are being born, and I choose to see green happen. Living in the desert can be tough when it comes to growing and having a garden; the elements make it hard to keep things alive. With lack of water, or the expense of city water, your romaine could just end up being the price of a diamond nugget. (well that’s a bit far-fetched, but you get where I am coming from)  I work hard to see life happen during this season. It makes me joyful and full of life to see things grow into a soon harvest.

Life on Zephy’s Garden Homestead has been busy this year. With caring to the daily duties and chores I have, keeping my seedlings and veggie starters happy  and alive takes time. (Yes, I do talk to my starters :)  They say it works, and by the pictures below, well you decide! My garden beds are doing very well. And I am looking forward to some amazing food come summer.

Every year for the past, oh I say five, I have been offering my seedlings  to our high desert community. Usually alongside our AHO pickup. Every Tuesday our Apple Valley members met at Desert Feed and pick up their produce boxes. Desert Feed has been so very kind to our family to allow us to have our AHO pickup at their business along with my starter plants at the shop. Come by and visit us!

Here are some of the photos of my seedlings and starters beginning to take life and soon to be food for many families including ours.

Aren’t these beautiful?! I love to see green life grow. Us desert folks don’t see enough of it.

Also for those of you who are in our High Desert community, consider participating with AHO -High Desert. Seasonal boxes from CA farmers.

And I have some good news!! Our mini-Nubian doe “finally” got pregnant! Boy has this been a year for her. With all the bucks she has at her beckon call, she just wouldn’t give in. So, then comes Sparky – a Nigerian buck, courtesy of Snowdale Acre Farms The romance began and kids should arrive early fall. Which means GOAT MILK soon! Oh, have we been waiting a long time!

Life will always be busy. This society is constantly racing and running at full speed. The old saying “stop and smell the roses” needs to be practiced more. I guess you can say I “stop and ground in the dirt.”

Thanks for enjoying life with us at Zephy’s Garden and Homestead

Busy on The Homestead-Preparation Day

Every Friday, here at Bell Homestead, we are busy preparing for the Sabbath and one of our many chores is ours animals and garden. I used to have our family clean the stalls and tidy up on Sunday, but I decided to change things up a bit, (as seems I to do much of), and make our Homesteading Work Day the day before Sabbath.

One of the reason is to Honor His Day and to REST,and not be over loaded with work. That is why the day BEFORE  Sabbath is called Preparation Day We work so much during the week and have our hands in many fires, sometimes literally,, and I would rather have Sabbath be a day of REST for us all. Even our four and two legged critters. Now mind you, if their water is low in their trough or an aminal is injured, I will make sure they are taken care of. Kinda like the “donkey in the ditch”

The Creator gave us specific instructions in The Torah for us to “shema” hear and obey.  Let me back it up with Scripture..

John 14:21
Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” 1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,

Exodus 20:8-11

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The list goes on..GOOGLE  it..I just did! :) As Torah disciples of the Messiah. I choose to honor Him in the way He instructed. It is a joy to do so.

Well back to the blog here:

So today was no exception. We pruned trees, cleaned stalls, gathers eggs, tended to the garden and even played with the dog. Well Serun, our Armenian Gampr LGD always gets petted and played with..a bit spoiled, should I say.?

It was a busy and productive day. Now comes the Sabbath rest, much needed after this family together worked hard!

Shabbat Shalom to those of you who choose to honor The King!

Seeds, Seeds and More Seeds…

What an amazing winter we are having.  It sure feels like this year has been one of the coldest and wettest seasons we have had in a long, long  time  And The RAIN..oh, The RAIN….I am so thankful for the RAIN!  That may sound trivial, but for us Californians, we are surely thrilled,we got rain and plenty of it!  I know this Mama for sure is, No complaining here!

We have been in need of a wet winter due to the long drought our state has had. With water restrictions and limits on how much water your garden can have, my prayer is that this recent rain will give us homesteaders and gardeners some much need water and an enjoyment in gardening again. It is hard when you are limited, it can take the joy of seeing life appear. Yet I am thankful!

Do you know that we should never curse the rain or say anything negative about it?  Those words can and will come to pass in time. Scripture exhorts us to

If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Leviticus 26:4-5

The Creator made rain for our advantage, to  nourish and to clean the land.  Rain is a blessing!  A refreshing time of newness. to clean out the impurities that we breathe and to make the land clean and new. I am thankful we have had a WET season.

I am also very excited about my garden this year. I was blessed to have seeds donated to our community garden that we are hoping to start up again this year. Not sure on how big or small of a scale we will have, whether raise beds or rows, but I do know it will be something. And something special indeed!

Look at them seeds I got! Now, if that isn’t a favor from My Heavenly Father.  I am humbled and blessed by both Baker Creek Heriloom Seeds and High Mowing Organic Seeds for their donation to our community garden. I am just in awe of what came my way in a package just this past week.

I hope to plant some beautiful beds and rows of edible greens, squash, herbs, lettuce and more! Some of the seeds I have never even heard of. Those will be fun to  plant with my children.

Enjoy the photos of our blessed seeds

Happy Spring Gardening…

Lettuce, lettuce and more lettuce..

Of, course, GMO FREE Seeds!

Some new variety to plant this year… interesting seed, isn’t it?

The famous summer cucumber….We love our cukes!

An airplane view of the variety sent to us. Just  makes your mouth water and brings about a happy dance!  Ya, I am weird!
